Terms of Use

Last updated 14 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and CurlCab. They apply whenever you use this website, whether you are booking a hairstyle or working as a hair professional. By creating an account you confirm that you accept them.

1. What CurlCab is

CurlCab is a booking platform. We connect customers who want their hair done at home with independent hair professionals who travel to them.

CurlCab does not cut, braid or style hair. The professionals on CurlCab are independent service providers running their own businesses. They are not our employees, agents or partners. The hairdressing service itself is an agreement between you and the professional who accepts your booking. What we are responsible for is the platform: vetting who may offer services, calculating and taking payment, matching bookings, and handling refunds under our refund & cancellation policy.

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to hold an account, and the details you give us must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You need to verify your email address before you can sign in.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us immediately if you think someone else has access to it.
  • One account per person. Accounts may not be shared, sold or transferred.
  • You can ask us to delete your account from your profile at any time. Some records — bookings, payments and refunds — are kept for the periods the law requires, even after an account is closed.

3. Booking an appointment

Bookings work within these limits, which the site enforces when you choose a slot:

  • Appointments run between 07:00 and 19:00 South African time.
  • At least 4 hours' notice, and no more than 60 days ahead.
  • The address must fall inside an area CurlCab currently serves.

A booking is a request until a professional accepts it. Paying confirms the request and puts it in front of eligible professionals; it does not by itself guarantee that someone will take it.

4. Prices and payment

  • Prices are in South African rand and include VAT where it applies.
  • The total is always worked out by us, never by your browser, and the full breakdown — style, hair length, add-ons, travel, platform fee, any surcharge or discount — is shown before you confirm.
  • You are charged when you select Confirm and pay, which is before a professional has accepted. Section 5 explains what happens if nobody does.
  • Payments are handled by PayFast. Card details are entered on PayFast's own secure pages — CurlCab never sees or stores your card number, CVV or banking login. We keep only an encrypted token that lets us charge the card you chose, plus harmless details such as the card brand and last four digits.
  • Catalogue prices can change, but a booking keeps the price you were quoted. Changing a price never re-prices a booking already placed.

5. If no professional accepts

Each paid booking is offered to eligible professionals for 30 minutes. If none accepts in that time, the booking expires and we start a full refund automatically — you do not need to ask. Timing and the rest of the detail is in the refund & cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. Changing or cancelling

  • You may change the date, time and address of a paid booking once, free of charge.
  • Cancelling is free before a professional accepts, within 15 minutes of them accepting, or more than 24 hours before the appointment.
  • Cancelling later than that carries a fee that is paid to your professional, who has set aside the time and planned travel. The exact amount is always shown on screen before you confirm a cancellation, and the tiers are set out in the refund policy.
  • If a professional cancels, we will either find you another or refund you in full.

7. Your appointment

To let a professional do their work safely and well, you agree to:

  • Be at the address you gave, at the time you booked.
  • Describe your hair honestly — length, condition, previous treatments, allergies and any scalp conditions. A professional may decline to proceed if what they find is materially different from what was booked, or if continuing would be unsafe.
  • Provide a reasonable space to work in: somewhere to sit, light, water and a plug point where the style needs one.
  • Treat your professional with respect. Harassment, discrimination, intoxication or threatening behaviour means the appointment ends immediately, with no refund, and your account may be closed.

Tell your professional about allergies and sensitivities before they start. A patch test is sensible before any chemical treatment, and you may ask for one.

8. For hair professionals

If you offer services through CurlCab, you also agree that:

  • You work as an independent contractor, not a CurlCab employee. You are responsible for your own tax, and for any licence or registration your services require.
  • You will complete our verification before taking bookings, and the information you give about your identity, skills and service areas will be true.
  • You only accept bookings you are able and qualified to do, and you arrive on time with the equipment the style needs.
  • You keep customer information private. Addresses and contact details are shared with you to carry out one appointment, and for nothing else.
  • Accepting a booking is a commitment. Repeated late cancellation or failure to arrive affects your standing on the platform and can lead to suspension.
  • CurlCab may suspend or remove an account where there is a safety concern, repeated complaints or a breach of these terms.

9. Reviews and content

Reviews must be your own honest experience. Do not post anything false, abusive, discriminatory, or that identifies someone without their agreement. We may remove content that breaks this, and you keep ownership of what you post while allowing us to display it on CurlCab.

10. What we are responsible for

We take real care with this service, but we want to be straight about its limits. CurlCab is not responsible for the quality of work performed by an independent professional, beyond our obligations under the Consumer Protection Act and our refund policy. We do not promise the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the South African Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 — including the right to services performed with reasonable care and skill — or any other right that cannot lawfully be limited. Where a term conflicts with those rights, those rights win.

If something goes wrong with an appointment, contact us within 48 hours with your booking reference. We will look into it with you and the professional and may offer a redo or a refund in whole or in part.

11. Your personal information

We handle personal information in line with POPIA (the Protection of Personal Information Act). In short: we collect what a booking actually needs, your exact address is hidden from professionals until one accepts your booking, payment tokens and sensitive details are encrypted, and we do not sell your information. Our privacy policy sets this out in full.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as CurlCab changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and material changes will be brought to your attention. Continuing to use CurlCab after a change means you accept the updated terms. The terms that apply to a booking are the ones in force when you made it.

13. Ending your access

You may stop using CurlCab and close your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, puts someone's safety at risk, or is being used fraudulently. Bookings already paid for are either honoured or refunded.

14. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction. You may also take a consumer complaint to the National Consumer Commission.

Questions about these terms: support@curlcab.co.za.

CurlCab operates in South Africa. Read these together with our refund & cancellation policy, which forms part of this agreement.
